Phoebe D’Souza - Artist
Phoebe is a Perth born, raised and based artist creating striking, colourful abstract works that are rich in texture, colour and contrast. Phoebe’s main art practice is working with abstraction in painting, print-media, materiality, drawing and some small-scale sculptures.
With a background and upbringing involving art and design, Phoebe’s initial studies were in Fine Art at The Claremont School of Art, progressing to Interior Design at the W.A School of Art and Design and further studies in Interior Architecture at Curtin University.
A love and zest for travel and adventure led her to live and work overseas and travel the world for many years, always visiting many great and small art galleries along the way and absorbing all that incredible inspiration and knowledge.
On her return to Perth and after some time raising her four young daughters, this lifelong passion and connection for art has led her to come “full circle” and continue her studies, completing a B.A. in Fine Art at Curtin University.
Phoebe’s studio practice and main areas of expertise include painting, printmaking and more recently exploring materiality; specialising in weaving, pattern and texture. The technique of weaving is greatly attracting, allowing her to be fully immersed in the present moment.
Creating predominately abstract art pieces that involve bold colour, pattern immersion, balance, and depth makes her feel a great sense of fulfilment and satisfaction.
