Phoebe D’Souza - Artist
Phoebe is a Perth-born artist who creates striking, colourful abstract works rich in texture, colour, and contrast. Phoebe’s main art practice is working with abstraction in painting, print media, materiality, drawing and some small-scale sculptures.
With a background and upbringing involving art and design, Phoebe’s initial studies were in Fine Art at The Claremont School of Art, progressing to Interior Design at the W.A School of Art and Design and further studies in Interior Architecture at Curtin University.
A love and zest for travel and adventure led her to live and work overseas and travel the world for many years, always visiting many great and small art galleries along the way and absorbing all that incredible inspiration and knowledge.
On her return to Perth and after some time raising her four young daughters, this lifelong passion and connection for art has led her to come “full circle” and continue her studies, completing a B.A. in Fine Art at Curtin University.
Phoebe D’Souza’s latest artistic practice involves working within geometric abstraction and colour theory. Phoebe delights in working with how colours contrast, complement and come together, which brings her a great feeling of satisfaction and fulfilment.
She also appreciates working within a more free-flowing organic style in painting and enjoys the freedom and fluidity that contrast the formality of her geometric work.
She relocated to Saskatoon, Canada with her family last year and is enjoying all the wonderful experiences on offer in Saskatchewan.
Phoebe loves the vastness of the Prairies, the open wide skies and the intensely beautiful colours of the contrasting seasons. Along with colour, the natural environment and finding the beauty in everyday life inspire Phoebe’s work.
